“Get Hermanized” – Beginner golf lesson
http://perfectfitgolf.com
Beginner golf lesson by Herman Williams, PGA Teaching Professional at The Golf Academy in Raleigh, NC. “Get Hermanized” and learn the 4-step setup for a repeatable approach to the ball with proper grip, stance, posture and a “connected” arm position. The beginning golfer will learn to start with a simple half swing while building consistency and the coordination to take a divot and get shots airborne and solid on day one. The half swing is critical to developing a good impact position and a finish with both arms and club extended to target. More advanced players may benefit from the training advice on the best way to make and practice a swing change.

@MrDoobie834 You are right on. Stocky with thick hands and short fingers will do better with the handle deeper down in the joints of the fingers of the left hand. A little stronger grip than what I advocate in the video is probably fine. We are always trying to fit the grip to the player then adopt a wrist position at the top and a release that all coordinate with that grip.

Herman I am a 55 y/o man who took the game up casually about 15 years ago. I used to have the grip you teach with the left hand. But found a couple of years ago that holding it down in my fingers (between the middle pad pretty much of all fingers) neutral grip other than that that I have more control and gain distance. I am a stocky kind of person with those kind of thicker hands and stubby fingers so would this be why it seems a better fit for me? Or do you have any comment? appreciate it

Herman,
This is good visual reinforcement. I am working on re-building my swing and I think the 4-steps are working fine.
