striking an …
striking an imaginary nail behind the ball is a well known Arnold Palmer swing thought.
Then wipe of the …
Then wipe of the blood and repeat the out of it some more. Thats the only secret to golf.
Couldn’t agree …
Couldn’t agree more, there is no set fundamental that all should follow. Just look at the three greatest ballstikers of all time, Trevino, Hogan, and Moe Norman, completely different set up, grips, stances, postures and alignment. None are right, none are wrong, its all about finding what works for you and repeating the out of it, if you what to be really good then repeat the out of it ’til your hands bleed.
Hey guys, ignore …
Hey guys, ignore this ‘tard and focus on the fundamentals. Become a true student of the game.
Focus on the fundamentals as discribed by Hogan, Woods, Nickalus and so many others in their discussions of the game.
Don’t think of hammers and nails.
I don’t need to …
I don’t need to google fundamentals. I’ve read all the books. Hogan’s, Elkingtion’s, Jack’s, Tiger’s, leadbetter’s etc etc. I’m an student of the game.
And from all my studies the only fundamental is striking the ball with the club head correctly. Now yes there’s a few people who have been able to illustrate a swing pattern to help a golfers obtain this fundamental more consistently, but I maintain a teacher should mold the swing to the golfer not the opposite.
C’mon buddy. Just …
C’mon buddy. Just google ‘golf fundamentals’ and see what comes up; how people have catagorized the fundamentals of the game. Listen to the analysts who talk about the game and the instructors that teach the game.
Grip, stance, posture, alignment (among others) is what they all talk about,
To say that these are not fundamentals is simply ignorant. Smarten up.
This confab is over.
Another sign you’re …
Another sign you’re full of crap. grab my statement and simplify it. Of course some people adjust their alignment to achieve a ball flight. if you want to hit a high draw you’ll set up your own personal way, every time FOR THAT PARTICULAR SHOT ( Idiot )
However. the alignment is not the same for everyone. Mediate sets up shut to the target to hit the ball right to left, Lehman sets up open to the target.
Johnny Miller is …
Johnny Miller is one voice of millions on this subject. And your dismissive and arrogant nature is the very reason I entered this discussion. Again with the shamwow comments. The problem for you is i have evidence on my side and you have hyperbole.
Like i said pick a fundamental. Explain what YOU believe it to be and I’ll show you 3 tour pros that ignore it and still win on tour. Making it a loose suggestion instead of a fundamental.
S-awk: Just for …
S-awk: Just for fun, google ‘golf fundamentals’ and see what hits come up.
All four are bullshit…..now THAT is laughable
All four are …
All four are bullshit; yet all four are cited in all the respected instructional material on how to play the game. Weird.
Don’t connect the term ‘fundamental’ with the presumption that everybody has to do it the same. This is way off.
Did you watch the US open today and hear Miller’s comment of Woods adjusting his alignment to achieve the flight path of his ball? Do it the same every time? No way, budzy.
Word of advice: keep your comments to the Shamwow videos on YouTube.
I’ll combine my …
I’ll combine my response here. All four are bullshit. the grip? Let’s see. Johnny miller, tiger woods, paul azinger, Jim Furyk. Ben Hogan. Which one is the ‘fundamental’
Stance Or Posture? Lee Trevino, Sam Snead, Colin Montgomerie, Jim Thorpe, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Chad Campbell, Adam Scott, Ben Hogen. Again Which one?
Alignment HAHA laughable. The only fundamental of alignment is that you do it the same every time. This one is so easy I’ll just skip it.
You love that, do …
You love that, do you Shawakwak.
I will name four fundamentals, just as Ben Hogan did: grip, stance, posture, alignment.
Oh do you?
What …
Oh do you?
What part, specifically, is bullshit? Make your call, Shawakwak.
I call bullshit on …
I call bullshit on you AcesandTwos
I love how you call …
I love how you call them ‘fundamentals’ Name one fundamental of the golf swing.
I agree…visually …
I agree…visually this may be the best tip I have ever gotten. I will try this on the range and see what happens to my slice….stay tuned
Actually this is …
Actually this is Jay Golden – a member of the PGA’s national teaching committee. He has this and other “hammer” videos on Ehow and Expert Village. He is very smart and entertaining – but I’m a high handicapper so this is a sound visualization for me. So simple! – let the thought of hammering a nail CREATE your grip stance and swing. You don’t bang a nail in and think about grip posture, backswing, weight shift. consider that! You just do what it takes to square it with authority at impact
He actually flips …
He actually flips his hands at the end.
yes Hogan does talk …
yes Hogan does talk of protination, but not in the manner that is communicated in the Hammer Swing videos.
He has it wrong here with respect to Hogan’s thoughts.
actually, Hogan …
actually, Hogan talks about pronating the wrist which is exactly the type of wrist movement he talks about.
Absolutely. The …
Absolutely. The release is the result of executing a few proper fundamentals correctly not something that is controlled.
Bad tip.
In the video quotes …
In the video quotes Ben Hogan and he is mistaken. In Hogans book The Modern Fundamentals of Golf Hogan’s discussion of the ‘release’ is nothing like what is communicated here.
I cannot comment on his references to Sneed or Bobby Jones as I have not read either of them.
Not necessarily.
Not necessarily.
you shouldnt force …
you shouldnt force the release at all, get the right grip pressure and allow it to happen naturally.
Idiot. The release …
Idiot. The release is a result of proper fundamentals is setup and swing mechanics not something you ‘do’.
Add this to the pile of bad golf tips.
