What are the 4 steps, I have ruined my game by trying too dard. I cannot get consistancy in my irons. I have too many thoughts in my head before I move the club an inch!! Recommend any YouTube Clips?

    only need 4 steps …
only need 4 steps if your learning, 3 if you know what your’re doing

    Dave I totally …
Dave I totally agree…trying to break down the golf swing like that to a student is insanity….KISS principle….Keep it simple stupid…..

  • mountie2323:

    this guys teaching …
this guys teaching messed up a million players during the day ME being one of them. Im finally glad these guys have been outed

  • tyronebiggim10:

    WOW..this guy is a …
WOW..this guy is a horrible teacher.

  • jengolf:

    Yes, Davecw… I …
    Yes, Davecw… I agree.
and now the current PGA players can be heard saying “I want to stay on-top of the ball.” No longer are they “loading up to the right side,” in the backswing.

  • Davecw1953:

    keep your golf …
keep your golf SIMPLE remember this quote and its from Tony Jacklin
Paralysis by ANALYSIS. that guy teaching the 8 steps far too much to remember

    That’s a great …
That’s a great point Fred, it’s not mentioned enough the damage that can be done with mechanical drills and such. I know many tour pros have been injured by drills from well known teachers, yet they typically are much more athletic and warmed up than amateurs.

    u did a video on …
u did a video on sam snead and ben hogan yet you apply none of their methods in your teachings- you modern teacher’s have called the straightening of the right leg a deadly sin- i wish sam was still alive to hear that. nOW WE HAVE GOLFERS ALL OVER THE WORLD KEEPING THEIR RIGHT KNEE SO BENT THEY ARE TOO STEEP- you modern teachers have got it all wrong

    Dont’ Micro – …
Dont’ Micro – manage your body parts. With the acception of the takeway he describes. The swing is all about the club head and momentum caused by weight shifting .Most impotantly the forward weight shift which puts you on a steeper arc so you can hit down on the back of the ball without relying on mechanics, but hand eye coordination

    ….. throughout …
….. throughout the book / dvd, McLean talks about ‘parameters of success’. In other words, he allows for variance in club and body positions, but points out what he calls ‘death moves’. club and / or body positions from which the swing just cannot be recovered. Check it out. You’ll see he knows what he’s talking about, indeed.

    Gang, The 8 Step …
Gang, The 8 Step Swing is not a way to learn golf. It is a method of TEACHING golf. The 8 steps are not to be systematically executed as you make a swing. These are positions the top players PASS THROUGH as they make a swing. When McClean teaches, he doesn’t say ‘ok here’s step 1. work on that and i’ll see you next week.’. He used the ‘steps’ as evaluation points. I highly recommend reading his book and watching the accompanying video. ……

    I don’t know if he …
I don’t know if he left alot on purpose in order to entice the buyer to purchase his video.but wow.The swing was all hands, arms and shoulders.I didn’t see a hip turn in the back swing or downswing.I saw the Hogan power move where he drops the hands but this is suppose to be initiated by a lateral mpve and weight shift. He faces the ball at impact????

  • secrettogolf:

    Take the club back …
Take the club back w a slow turning of the shoulders. The feeling you should have is that the club face is shut.Try these drills to make you aware of what is happenings in the back swing.Grip your club and lift it to your face, that is the wrist cock. The shoulder move it side ways and the hinge makes the club move upward.
Second stand at address.and simply bend your front leg. What happens to the rest of your body and club?.Let me know how U do.

  • secrettogolf:

    Your hands are most …
Your hands are most likely out of positon.Your top hand should be bowed at impact and bottom hand should have a bend at the back of the hand and wrist.Back of top and palm of bottom hand should face the target. This will promote hitting down on the ball first then creating a divot.Anyhting short of this will give U a scooping affect and power shortage at impact.Let me know how U make out.

  • ybelite:

    this is just one …
this is just one technique of many. there’s more than one way to hit a golf ball. if u like his technique follow only his illustration of the swing. But you will never get it taking bits of info from everyone.

  • atleaststayalert:

    I think his …
I think his instructions are good. But what I found happened when trying to follow his teachings was that the over all flow of my swing was greatly compromised from thinking about all the different positions of the clubs.

  • danic18:

    big deal! my swing …
big deal! my swing looks great, better than ever. the problem…my impact position, it sucks. My left wrist is bent what promotes wether thin shots or fat ones(what its more common). My shots are higher than desiderable and shorter than I need… Any tips?

  • craigb130485:

    how on earth can …
how on earth can you take the club back with your hips!?! what a stupid thing to say. The start of the backswing is about getting everything moving away together. A drill is to stick the butt (grip end) of the club into your belly button and take the club back to just past your feet i.e. position 1. Here you have to make sure the butt stays in your belly button, if you break your wrists quickly it wont!

  • tiger2995:

    Neither! Think of …
Neither! Think of turning the left shoulder beneath your chin, keeping your shoulders perpendicular to your spine angle (i.e. on plane) This may feel ‘flat’ if you’ve been swing back too steeply, but you will coil better behind the ball. Don’t focus on the hands or arms, they just respond to what the torso is doing.

  • laybackrockguy:

I knew he want us …
I knew he want us to buy his video at the end of this clip! Well time to save up or i could learn it by practicing it for free.

  • Evafan133:

    Try to leave your …
Try to leave your hands out of the back swing, the only thing they should be doing is holding the club firmly and gripping it correctly, it you take the club back with your left hand, you will be “laid-off” at the top meaning the club shaft will be pointing left of the target line, if you take the club back with your right arm, the club shaft will be pointing to the right of the target, try to take the club back with your shoulders and hips.

  • riazkhancrm:

    I cannot get into …
I cannot get into position one and two. Do I take the club back with left arm or left hand or both hands or right hand. I cannot take them back in one piece. What I do is breakwrist quickly.

  • teewoods:

If you are going to …
If you are going to teach a golf swing teach ALL the fundamental not just halof of it. It appears you dont even understand my point
